Mapping of the watersheds at the Barra do Riacho Unit was carried out and a water resources monitoring plan was drafted and implemented to evaluate water quantity and quality.

The integration of practices and methodologies between the units resulted in a discussion process and readjustments to the monitoring of the experimental watersheds at the Guaíba Unit. Investments are foreseen for the installation of climate data collectors in 2005,after identifying the need to upgrade the unit ’s equipment and data collection and analysis procedures.In addition,the hydrographic basins are beginning to be used as a basis for the natural planning of the Company ’s plantations in Rio Grande do Sul,as they will be used as a reference for compliance with laws on maintaining forest conservation areas.
