Employees | Quality of life
Aracruz runs a number of programs for improving the quality of life of its employees.
- Thirty-two people went through the Employee’s Support Program for Smokers in 2004, including spouses. Since the start of the Program four years ago, 147 people have undergone treatment, which has an effectiveness rate of 69%.
- In the Chemical Dependency Support Program, 16 persons were given treatment and support was provided for another 25 family members. There were also 155 post-treatment counseling sessions and 20 awareness seminars held in various areas of the Company, reaching a total of 504 persons.
- We continued to run the Professional Retraining Program to help employees whose original professional skills and capabilities have been reduced due to disease, accidents or other reasons to get back on the job.
- The Company continues its "Mexa-se" (Work out) Program, through which it subsidizes the expenses of employees involved with physical exercise. In 2004, the program was introduced in the Guaíba Unit and is now available to all employees. At the end of the year there were 479 employees enrolled in the program.
