In 2004, we invested US$1 million in professional training activities, an average of 39 hours of training per employee.

  • The Arcel Educar Program, in partnership with the Brazilian Education Foundation (FUBRAE) awarded diplomas to 39 students who completed grade school or middle school. The Arcel Educar Program has graduated 124 students since its inception in 1997.
  • The Managers Development Program (PDGA), in partnership with the Dom Cabral Foundation, awarded diplomas to 121 graduates in 2004. Started in 2003, this initiative has benefited 196 managers at Aracruz, resulting in the development of 26 applied projects with proposals for improvements and innovations related to the strategic objectives of the Company.
  • We started, in partnership with SENAI/ES, a training program for the operation of forest equipment. The course, in which the Company invested R$684,000 (equivalent to US$257,685), was held in eight municipalities for 105 professionals, who received scholarships while they were studying.
