A regrettable accident in October took the life of an employee of one of our service providers at the Barra do Riacho Unit (ES).

Since 2000, the Aracruz Companies (Aracruz Celulose, Aracruz Produtos de Madeira and Portocel) and their service providers have participated directly in the Internal Integrated Accident Prevention Week, (SIPAT), held in April this year at the Barra do Riacho Unit, and in November at the Guaíba Unit. In Barra do Riacho, SIPAT had 48 partner companies attending and an audience of about 3,600 persons. In Guaíba, 49 companies participated and the audience was about 1,750.

In the field of medical assistance, there were 46,598 consultations for medical assistance and 2,372 occupational health consultations. There were also 27,467 health exams carried out. The Company’s investment in this area was US$4.1 million for the year.
