Generation and uses of funds
Between 1989 and 2004, Aracruz was responsible for generating US$12.3 billion in economic resources. One third of the total – US$4.1 billion – was reinvested in the enterprise, reflecting the commitment of the shareholders to the creation of new development opportunities.
During the same period, the Company acquired US$3.6 billion in materials, products and services, giving priority whenever possible to local suppliers. This attitude has contributed to the growth of regional companies and the generation of jobs and income.
Export revenues accumulated during the period totaled US$8.9 billion. In 2004, Aracruz was once again one of Brazil’s largest manufacturing sector net foreign exchange earners.
